A Helpful Guide to the Spa
We want your experience at The Spa to be an inspiring and peaceful experience. Our spa specialists will assist you in creating a personalized treatment that will be the starting point of your journey. We hope this guide aides you in answering some of your questions about our spa.
How can I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made by calling 207-288-5251.
Who can guide me in choosing my treatments?
Our Spa Coordinators will assist you in planning the perfect spa experience. Please feel free to ask them any questions that may be of concern to you.
What if I have special health considerations?
Certain considerations regarding treatment need to be made for our guests who have high blood pressure, allergies, cardiac conditions, are pregnant, or have any other physical ailments or disabilities. Please notify our Spa Coordinator before booking your treatment if you have a health concern. If at any time during your services you experience discomfort, please alert your therapist immediately.
What if I am pregnant?
While there are a few services that should be avoided during pregnancy, there are many beneficial treatments that can be enjoyed. It is strongly suggested that you receive clearance from your physician prior to receiving any service. No treatments will be offered to those in their first trimester. Please notify our Spa Coordinators if you are pregnant when you book your appointments so that they can offer guidance.
When should I arrive?
For your enhanced comfort and relaxation, we suggest that you arrive 15 – 30 minutes prior to your first treatment. This will allow you to change, shower, enjoy our sauna room or just relax in our quiet room.
What if I am late for my appointment?
Arriving late will limit the time for your treatment, thus lessening its effectiveness and your enjoyment. Your treatment will end on time so that the next guest will not be delayed. Full value of your service will be applied.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you must reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify us 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full service fee. Cancellations of packages or private parties also require a 24 hour notice. A credit card number is required at the time you book your treatments.
What about gratuities?
An 18% service charge will be added for each spa service you receive. A significant portion of this is reserved for your technician as a gratuity. If the service meets or exceeds your expectations, please feel free to leave additional gratuity which will be distributed to your technician during your visit.
What about payment for Spa services?
We accept all major credit cards and traveler’s checks. You may also charge spa services to your room at the Harborside Hotel and Marina. For your convenience, payment is accepted prior to your treatments.
What should I wear during my treatment?
Most body treatments are enjoyed without clothing however, please wear whatever is most comfortable for you. During all treatments, the body is fully draped, except for the area being worked on. Before treatment, robes and slippers are provided in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
What about my comfort?
This is your time and you should delight in the experience to the fullest. Whether it is the room temperature, the amount of massage pressure or the volume of the music, please notify us of any discomfort or preferences. For the comfort of all our guests, we request that cell phones and pagers be turned off in The Spa.
What about my jewelry and valuables?
If you are staying in the hotel, please leave valuable items in your guest room. If an item is of great value to you, we ask that you do not bring it with you. The Spa at the Bar Harbor Club cannot be responsible for items lost or stolen.
Is there a minimum age for treatments?
An adult must accompany all spa guests under 17 years old. A variety of treatments are available to our younger guests 12-17 when accompanied by a guardian.
Should I shave before a treatment?
Shaving is recommended buy not necessary for men prior to a facial. If you do choose to shave prior to your facial, please be sure to do so at least two (2) hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Shaving is not recommended prior to any body treatments or hair removal services.
Are Gift Certificates available from The Spa?
Absolutely! You may purchase Spa Gift Certificates for a specific dollar amount or for a particular service. The Spa Gift Certificates can be used towards services or towards purchases in our Spa Boutique.
